There is no single useful UK price for “pest control”. Cost depends on the pest, the size and layout of the property, how established the problem is, access, the number of visits, whether proofing is included and whether the work is domestic or commercial. Compare the scope of quotes before comparing the headline price.

What usually changes the price?
Pest and treatment method
A simple monitoring or proofing visit is different from a multi-visit bed-bug programme, inaccessible wasp nest or widespread cockroach infestation.
Extent of the problem
One room or one entry point is not the same as activity across several floors, adjoining flats, roof voids or a commercial site.
Access
Lofts, roof spaces, wall voids, kitchens in use, machinery areas and restricted commercial spaces can add time and complexity.
Follow-up
Some jobs need repeat inspections or treatments. Ask whether follow-up visits are included or charged separately.
Proofing
Stopping the pest and stopping it returning are not always the same job. Mesh, gap sealing, door work or roof repairs may be separate.
Commercial requirements
Food premises and other businesses may need documentation, routine monitoring and agreed response times as well as treatment.
How to compare two quotes properly
- Check the identification. The quote should make clear what pest or evidence is being treated.
- Check the treatment area. Ask which rooms, voids, external areas or buildings are included.
- Check the number of visits. A cheaper one-visit quote is not necessarily cheaper if the comparable service includes follow-up.
- Ask about preparation. Bed bugs, fleas and some commercial treatments can require significant preparation.
- Separate control from repairs and proofing. Find out what is included and what requires another trade.
- Read exclusions. Warranties and guarantees are only meaningful if the conditions are clear.
When a very cheap quote deserves more questions
A low price is not automatically a problem. It becomes difficult to compare when the quote does not explain identification, treatment method, number of visits, areas covered or follow-up. Ask for those details in writing rather than relying on a vague “treatment included” description.
What PestDeck does not do
PestDeck does not publish invented “average” prices where the underlying service scope cannot be compared. The aim is to help you understand the job first, then compare like with like.
